Costumes For Halloween

Some historical drawings from the NY Public Library. The Magpie dress is so darling, I'd love to make a copy of it, but in a wearable daytime version.

  1. That Magpie Dress is fantastic! I wish I could sew well enough to make one, not that I'd ever wear it, but still! If you make a daytime version, you must post a picture of it!

I love your header art with the polar bears ... do you mind sharing who the artist is? I think I might need to try and get a poster of that one!

    1. It is called Man Proposes, God Disposes, by Edwin Henry Landseer. The subject matter is the remains of the Franklin Arctic expedition of 1845. It is at the Royal Holloway University in Surrey. If you like this subject matter, I HIGHLY recommend the book "The Terror" by Dan Simmons!

    2. Oh, thank you! I've seen some of Landseer's pictures before, but mostly dogs and stags - nothing like that one! I'm going to put the book on hold at the library right now ... always appreciate suggestions for new reading material! :o)
