Re-Upholstered Skull Print Sewing Chair

I've been looking for a new chair for my sewing room for a while now. I already had this fabric and knew how I wanted to use it. I finally came across this chair in a church based thrift store. I was looking it over and explaining to my boyfriend what I wanted to do with it "I want to centre the skull here" etc... when one of the women working there (who had been following me around the store) came over and tried to take the chair from me - saying it was not for sale. I asked her why and she could not come up with an answer. But what she didn't see is that my boyfriend had taken the tag to the register, paid for it and them came back and took the chair out of her grip. When she started o protest, the manager came over and asked her what was wrong with her and she needed to get in the back. It was all SO stupid!
Anyway,  I LOVE how it came out & it is the right height for my sewing table. I also made matching curtains as well.

  1. Great idea! I once reupholstered my office chair, but the fabric looks a bit worn down now... I was thinking about replacing it with this fabric, which is a bit more sturdy than the general quilting fabrics:

    1. that fabric is too cute! I know, I was thinking this fabric was too thin, but I interfaced it and put canvas underneath.
Take a look at this fabric - it has a similar flair to it http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=fab0501b-ec7f-454d-aaa3-382bf50cd7e7&CategoryID=a5e51830-98f2-470c-930b-e5d18a95939d

  2. It turned out beautifully! And how weird - did that woman think you were in league with the devil and were creating an altar from the chair with skulls or something? Mwahahhaha! ;o)

    1. I think that's exactly what they thought. The altar of loose sewing threads & cat hair!
