These are currently my favourite tights, but it is too cold to wear them nowadays, so I layered them over some charcoal gray tights. I think they are Chinese Laundry.
I have way too many pairs of nylons, stockings and tights. Since I've been 11 or so I've been buying vintage stockings at thrift stores. I think I have over 300 pairs by now. Here are 2 storage tubs of stockings. Although they seem overwhelming in number, I'm glad I bought them, you rarely see them anymore. Not pictured are the cabinets, drawers and boxes of modern tights.
Closeup of some nice ones. Some I collected because of their graphics, others because they were oddities. Check out the crotchless, buckle at the waist ones on the right.
Over 300 pairs? Nicely done! :D I like your Chinese Laundry pair - they look very nice over the charcoal grey tights!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. I swear I'm not a hoarder!
DeleteUh huh. I swear I'm not either ... ;o)
DeleteWow! 300 pairs?! Thats's awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour Chinese Laundry tights are lovely. They also match the oxford shoes very well :)!
Thanks so much!
DeleteHEY!!! Your vintage stocking collection is HUGE! I made a post about mine and it's far from so many as you have!! Oh I would love to see more details of it!! I love the style of the envelopes as well. Unfortunately I have used a lot of my vintage stockings :). It's very difficult to find them nowadays but how is it for you. Do you still find vintage stockings?
ReplyDeleteI almost never find stockings anymore. I always look, though, and foolishly expect to find more. Recently I bought a lovely seamed pair with printed flowers on the ankle from the 40's. Maybe I'll do a photo set on flickr of the stocking illustrations, some are just too adorable!
Delete300 pairs! I feel like my hosiery collection is tiny now :)
ReplyDeleteI adore the subtlety of the first photo! I would love to see more photos of your favorites from your vintage collection. I never thought to look for vintage stockings (probably impossible to find now, since vintage is so popular). I can imagine the quality is amazing!! Do you ever wear any of them?
ReplyDeleteWow that's an impressive collection. You're so lucky!
